Hello guys, and welcome back to another episode of Keeping it Realty. It's currently Halloween, as I'm sitting in my bed at one in the morning recording this. So happy Halloween. And if you go out, go crazy, just don't drink and drive.
Speaker 1:So okay, in this week's episode oh, and that reminds me, I tell you guys, okay, anyway, in this week's episode we are going to talk about how to kind of make 2023 like your launching pad, I guess, to have the best year in 2024, and it's about celebrating your successes, even if they're small ones, but also kind of embracing the journey and overcoming the challenges and just getting that motivation to drive us to become the best version of ourselves. Because I swear, I lose my motivation all the time and I'm just always having to re-pick it back up. And I want to share kind of with you guys how I did that. But after last week's episode me sharing like the biggest challenge and biggest mistake and the biggest setback in my life, which is really important for me I feel like to share that. I also want to share my success and to kind of inspire and guide you and at the age of 20, I literally right now have six closings coming up and last week's episode hit like 800 downloads, which is just so beyond crazy in my head, because, as somebody who's not an influencer, does not have a lot of followers, is hard building a podcast to kind of have those downloads and build it just like real estate. It's really hard building that foundation, but once you do, it's just like you got to keep going. So, but I can honestly say right now I literally love every aspect of my life, and it wasn't always like this, though, and I have faced my fair share of setbacks and moments of doubt, believe me, but through like planning, I have just reached a point where I'm not even setting goals for the new year. I'm literally like I'm achieving them already, and like I business plan a month ago by myself, and I just wrote down a certain business plan of mine that I use, and I've already achieved two of my goals that were on quarter one, which is just I could scream okay. So if you want to kind of get your motivation back and get ready to have the best year yet, you have to plan and you have to know how you're going to do it, what you're going to do differently, and just kind of have an idea. So let's just get into it. Okay, guys, really quickly, I should tell you guys, I didn't realize I was going to go out over the weekend for Halloween and I pulled together this costume.
Speaker 1:That was unreal, okay, I'm a realtor. So I have so many Avery labels like for like mailings and stuff, and I had these circle ones and I had this really like pretty like blue dress that I wanted to wear and I was like, oh my god, like, and my friend was like you should be a zen and I'm like, like that, just nobody would know I'm a zen and I'm like, hmm well, I literally printed off a million circles in Avery labels, put them all over me, and I can't even tell you the amount of compliments that I got on it. So, and a lot of people saved it on my TikTok, which I can't wait to see somebody else be it now, and they're going to have no idea how I did it. So if you're listening to this on Halloween and you're going out, you just have to get Avery labels. That are the circles, okay, anyway.
Speaker 1:So the first thing that I think we should talk about is when I say, like, plan out your year like shit happens and life is unpredictable and things that will happen. That will literally have you questioning like are you a failure in life? Are you not doing enough? And getting your life together and planning out your life is different for everybody, but I would I want to say I feel like the common goal is kind of to just maintain a feeling of like, satisfaction and happiness in your life, even when things aren't great. And it's not that easy to learn how to get your shit together when you feel overwhelmed and you're dealing with a lot of things. But there are ways to have your life together even when it's not. And if you're in college and maybe you're not doing well and you're not doing well in your classes, you can get your life back on track even when you feel like you're failing out at all. And I really want to discuss some ways right now on kind of how I've done that.
Speaker 1:So the first thing that is so important, okay, guys, is if your room is messy, don't start by like emailing your professors and shit. No, clean your room, okay, get organized and just declutter your room, your house, whatever it may be, because I swear to God that organizing your room and like decluttering your room and your house is truly will help you like not be as overwhelmed, and it's probably one of the reasons why you're feeling lost and I will swear by that. So, getting up and making your bed, just clean your house, organize your desk, put things in the right areas, like I'm literally saying this right now, but my drawers right now, like oh, my god, okay, I'm gonna do this. So like sort out like all, like get organized, like be OCD for a little bit and like clean out your pantry and do your laundry and organize your closet, color code and get the same hangers. I swear to God, if you're feeling lost, feeling depressed, get the same hangers. It will change your life. You're probably like okay, this I'm not gonna listen anymore. It's just bitch for real, but I am Okay.
Speaker 1:The next thing is, if you are falling on a budget right now, then you don't have to do it this way, but like go buy something. It doesn't have to be calendar. I have a problem and buy like so many calendars, because every time I mess up one little letter, I have to feel like I have to get a new one. I can't just rip out the page like a normal person or use white out, but make a to-do list if you don't want to buy one, or go to like HomeGoods or TG Max and they have all those like cute, like to-do lists, like notepads or whatever. Get one of those with your name on it and it will make you feel like you want to write in it and you're gonna want to use it for a little bit, which will help you get your life together.
Speaker 1:And making a to-do list is just one way to kind of get your life in order and it is just one thing that I do every Sunday, even when I am, you know, not feeling well. I write down what I need to do for the week and my, like, main priorities, and it will really help you plan out your day, know what tasks you need to do at certain times and things, so you don't forget. And if there are too many things on your to-do list which this is something I've had to learn then either, like, use different lists for certain things, so, because you're gonna become way too overwhelmed with all of them and you're not even gonna do any of them. So just take them one step at a time and do it in order. Don't check off something that's at the very bottom and then go to the second one. It just you won't end up using that checklist and you'll make a new one. It just do it in order.
Speaker 1:Okay, I hate to say this because I make excuses for myself, but that is something that is so important. If you have something that you want to do in life and you want to get there one life, you have to stop making excuses and figuring your life out and achieving your goals like you have to have some type of plan and you just have to take those actions in order to get there. And I feel like I always am used to be making excuses and procrastinating on even doing small things and then end up having to rush to meet certain things and never end up executing them the way I should. And if there is something that's important to you and you really want it, then you have to learn to get your shit together and go for it, and I mean that in every way possible. I've had to learn that I had to get my shit together, and it took getting a DUI to get my shit together, but I did. And now look at me now. So sometimes you're going to go through those major setbacks and that is why I said in last week's episode like truly facing those really hard challenges and overcoming them will make you the best version of yourself and it's so real. So set goals that you want to achieve that are not like that aren't impossible, like they need to be realistic.
Speaker 1:And last week I taught agents at our office with my manager about vision boards. And vision boards aren't for everybody, but they can literally simply take one minute to make. Go to Canva or just literally look on Pinterest, and but if you make them on Canva yourself, then it's more meaningful and will kind of help you more. And let's say you're going to school to be a doctor or a dentist or whatever it may be, and you are doing really bad in school and you just can't seem to get your shit together. You're failing a class, you don't want to do homework, you don't want to go to class. Make a vision board. Make a vision board of how you see yourself being a dentist. And if it's a picture of a cute girl dentist, then make that, because you'll look at that and be like that is what I want. So you are going to take the steps, get there and you have to stop making excuses.
Speaker 1:The next thing I want to say is start budgeting If you do not have a savings account. Open up a savings account Like invest and save money, and just start budgeting. There are so many budgeting calendars. I literally just made one and, if you guys want me to, I can share it with you guys. It's so elegant and cute, but I have started doing it because I have a spending problem. I've been living by this quote that I made up in my head when I went through a breakup and it's like well, you only live once and you could die on the way home. So if you want that sweater, then buy it, regardless of the price. Like you may want to wear it in your casket, like genuinely guys.
Speaker 1:I wish I was kidding when I say that that when I go to like put something down, like, oh, I don't need it, I think to myself well, what if I died on the way home? And it's so bad, don't live by that. I'm telling you it's the worst because I have a horrible spending problem. But when you learn to get your shit together, you will learn that you don't have to be rich and it's really just all about managing the little money that you have and spending it wisely. And one thing that I have had to learn and I have not learned, actually, like I'm trying it, just it's taking time is in high school I had no money, like I was always begging my mom for money to go out on the weekends and I now go from having no money to being a pretty successful realtor for being 20 years old, and when I see those checks I act like it's million dollars and I'm like I can spend whatever, just because I had not used to the concept of having money. But I'm getting better and I just started budgeting to kind of get into the year to have a good 2024, and I want to buy an investment property and I just need to start getting better at saving my money.
Speaker 1:So, okay, the next really big one is getting a routine. And making a routine Seriously like a daily routine works in a way kind of similar like a to-do list to kind of help you get your shit together, and I think I should head over this episode let's get your shit together to make 2024 the best one yet. But anyway, because it creates structure in your life and whether it's a morning routine or a workout routine or an evening routine, whatever it may be, workout routines don't quite work for me. I try and try and try again. One day they will, and I'll definitely make sure to share that with you.
Speaker 1:But you need structure in your life and if you need to get your shit together you need structure is small routines like getting up, making your bed and writing on your to-do list what you're gonna do for the day. Time blocking is so important, especially for real estate agents. I started time blocking and I still don't have the hang of it yet, but it will change your life and it will create control. But establishing a routine just ensures that you no longer have to like force yourself to engage in healthy and certain things, because they will just start becoming natural to you and you will just start doing them without thinking like, oh, I need to do this, I need to create a, I need to do a to-do list. You'll just start doing it and you will start doing the things on the to-do list and from there you will just get better. Okay, this one just came up in my head when I was talking and it's own your life, own your shit.
Speaker 1:And the reason that like you may be feeling like your life is not maybe how you want it to be is because you haven't been like living it for yourself and I did it for a while but maybe it's because you're not embracing your to yourself, or you're trying to like follow somebody else, somebody else's footsteps, or maybe you're doing something only for somebody else, like your parents, like you're going to school just because you're parents, but in reality you don't wanna go to college and you see yourself going to hair school. I don't know, I just pulled that out of my ass. But I'm just saying, like you need to do what you love to do and you're not just doing it to like to like God what's the word? Like to exceed society's expectations and like you know what I mean whatever, but really own your life and do what you wanna do. And if you don't wanna go out and all your friends are going out and they're like come on, go out, like don't go out, like do whatever you wanna do, so that's really important and that will help you.
Speaker 1:Okay, guys, this is a big one and it is that you need to embrace the chaos. Okay, and no matter how well that you plan out your life, it's gonna throw these huge curveballs at you that you're like what the hell and shit's gonna happen. Okay, and you can admit that you don't have your life all figured out, that's okay. I don't think anybody does but you need to remind yourself that you've had similar struggles in the past and you were able to overcome them and get your life back on track. So it's okay to not be okay sometimes, and it's okay to struggle, and maybe you're going through a breakup. Maybe you are failing your class, maybe you are just screwed in college right now I don't know what it is, but think about the hardest thing that you've gone through in your life, and I guarantee you it is not as hard as what you are currently facing, and you've gotten better from what that past was the really bad part. So, if you're learning to get your shit together because you feel overwhelmed and you just need to understand that, no matter how bad things get, they will always get better.
Speaker 1:And yeah, at the end of the day, though, like getting your life together and back on track is not just something that happens in a day, and it is like just a long process of making just these positive changes in your life, but making them every day and continuing to do them. And if you don't feel like you have your life together or figured out at all. You're not alone. There are so many people out there that are just as lost as you and everybody is trying to figure out their life. We're all just fumbling through this together. But you really should do all of those things and I think it would help you a ton and I'm actually gonna go do them too. But I just wanna say next week we're gonna do a part two to this. We're gonna really dive deep into planning and how I got to be where I am and the success part of it and things that I've done that have really helped me, because those are all basic things but they are like sometimes you just need to hear them again and those little things can actually make the biggest difference.
Speaker 1:But I wanna say I recorded a podcast with my friends. They came to the Lux Realty Lounge in my studio and literally guys I'm not kidding you, I've never listening to it is the funniest thing in the world. We basically just talked about X and we would say one and oh my God, it's so funny. It's just been hard because I have to edit a lot of it, because it's just so bad. But anyway, I hope that if you're feeling unmotivated. You are probably creating a to-do list right now. But yeah, as always, love you bye.
